Neighbors Abbey
In the fall of 2008 after having lived in SW Atlanta for 4 years, Troy and Kelley met on their back porch with a dozen neighbors considering what a church within their not-yet-gentrified urban community should look like. Neighbors Abbey emerged as a response to this conversation and it slowly evolved from Sunday brunch, to house church, to community leadership mentorships, to Presbyterian church plant. Then in April of 2012 the funding situations changed, many of those early leaders had relocated, and much of what we thought we could do had either been accomplished or come full course. You can visit the Abbey's blog to read more about those years, the community heros who made the Abbey what it was, and the art of neighboring that we all explored in that time and since.
